The Active Roles White Women Play(ed) in the Attempted Genocide of Native American Peoples

This presentation explores the active (and often intentional) roles white women played in the attempted genocides of American Indian populations across what is now referred to as the United States. Through their participation in settler colonialism, child removal, the foster care industrial complex, and forced or coerced sterilization, white women proved their worth in "New World."

Beginning Critical Genealogy

A new presentation focused on critical genealogy (also referred to as critical family history), which interrogates genealogy in its present state and encourages increased inclusivity, understanding, healing, and liberation.

Deconstructing White Supremacy in Librarianship

This presentation is focused on the white supremacist tendencies within the field of librarianship and offers practical actions for its deconstruction in favor of creating a more inclusive and satisfying service.

Outside of librarianship? This session can be tailored to your field or organization. Karla is an experienced speaker, mentor, leader, and trainer in topics related to equity and social justice.

The Journey to Women's Suffrage in Wisconsin

This presentation offers a history of women's suffrage in Wisconsin, but goes above and beyond the typical (white) leaders and stories to highlight the leaders of color who also fought for the vote and their experiences in the mainstream suffrage movement.

Why Indigenous Histories Matter in Your European Genealogy

A brand-new presentation focused on why exploring, acknowledging, and discussing your ancestors' European history must include knowledge and considerations of Native history as well.
